Apart from the church in Affpuddle, Briantspuddle contains the limited public amenities within the parish. The well stocked shop/post office and the village hall are both run by volunteers who are always looking for more help. Otherwise the parish relies on the neighbouring villages of Bere Regis, Puddletown, Wool, Crossways and Bovington for that little bit more. The county town of Dorchester and the market towns of Wareham and Blandford Forum are within relatively easy reach for weekly shopping and Poole and Bournemouth are not that far away with their city centre stores and trading estates.
The local economy is based largely on forestry and farming and to some extent this is reflected in the parish, though several farms have diversified into other activities to help balance the books. Other work within the parish is provided by watercress production, a light metal fabrication factory, a software support company and self employment.
